Well known hippie/surf town on Maui’s North Shore. Tiny community, older homes, lots of boutiques and unique restaurants with a well-known organic grocery store called Mana Foods. Easy walk to Paia Bay beach and if you walk on the new bike path, you will get to a mile-long beach called Baldwin beach.

Well known on Maui due to our award-winning beach front restaurant called Mama’s Fish House.  Small community located between Paia and Maliko gulch, along Hana Highway.  Lots of surfers, vacation rentals…

Next to Kuau, if you keep on driving on Hana Highway, you will reach Ho’okipa Beach park.  One of the most well-known windsurfing beach in the world. 

In Paia, take Baldwin Avenue all the way up, you will get to our little cowboy/paniolo town.  On the slopes of the volcano, older homes, lots of small boutiques, a few restaurants, tiny but super cute and lots of character.

Kula is lovely. If you want a bi-coastal ocean view property on Maui, you need to be in Kula.  There is a big difference though between Lower Kula and Upper Kula.  It can be really cold Upper Kula on a winter morning, such as 40 degrees. There are not a lot of stores in that area but if you want the best croissants and patisseries on Maui, stop by La Provence next to Kula True Value.  The views, the smell, the silence… that is Kula for you. In the spring, driving on Kula Highway when the Jacarandas are in bloom is beautiful.

Odd name for Maui! Klaus Spreckels owned a sugar cane plantation at the beginning of the century, it is now gone but his company, H C & S is still operating in California (Hawaii and California Sugar).  Spreckesville is known as a golf and a beach front community with lots of beach front estates utilized by windsurfers.  The Maui Country Club is the heart of Spreckeslville.  A well-known beach on Maui for little ones is Baby Beach, it is reef protected and is located at the very beginning of Baldwin beach.

The Olinda Forest at the top of Olinda Avenue is worth a walk, stunningly quiet, easy loop to do.  Olinda is thought after by artists, like Kula, very similar feel but no bi-coastal ocean views!  The best private school is located in Olinda, Seabury Hall, middle school and high school. 

If you keep on driving on Kula Highway in the direction of the winery, you will stop by my favorite restaurant for breakfast, Grand Ma’s and if you are up for a nice walk, walk Thompson Road.  The views from that road are out of this world and you might meet Oprah on her walk as she lives nearby.
